Knoxville’s New Year’s Eve Celebration at Sunsphere

Knoxville's Sunsphere hosts a family-friendly New Year's Eve event with music and activities.

The City of Knoxville is set to host its 4th annual New Year’s Eve celebration at the Sunsphere on December 31, 2024. Sponsored by Lowe’s, the event will take place at World’s Fair Park and is free for all ages. Visitors can expect an evening filled with music, activities, and the traditional ball drop at midnight.

The festivities will begin at 9 p.m. with Knox Vegas DJs playing popular hits on the main stage. Attendees can also enjoy a silent disco and live music by the Mikki Norwood Band, which will perform from 10 p.m. until five minutes before midnight.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy a full evening in Downtown Knoxville by exploring its illuminated streets, dining at local restaurants, and skating at Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice at Market Square, which is open until 9 p.m. before heading over to World’s Fair Park for the main event.

For those attending, free parking is available in all city-owned garages, including Locust Street, Market Square, and the 11th Street Garage. More parking information can be found on the Downtown Knoxville website.

This event is family-friendly and alcohol-free. Guests are welcome to bring chairs, but tents and canopies are not allowed. The celebration will proceed as planned regardless of weather conditions.

Road closures for the event include Clinch Avenue (between Henley and 11th streets) from noon on December 31, 2024, to 1 a.m. on January 1, 2025, and World’s Fair Park Drive (between Clinch and Grand avenues) from 6 p.m. on December 31, 2024, to 1 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

The event is made possible thanks to Lowe’s and other sponsors. For more information about the event, visit the City of Knoxville’s events page. Additional New Year’s Eve event listings can be found on Visit Knoxville’s website.
