High Rate of Gun Theft from Vehicles in Nashville

Most stolen guns in Nashville are taken from vehicles, reports show.

The Nashville Police Department is urging residents to lock their car doors and secure valuables, particularly firearms, to prevent theft. This year, 838 guns have been reported stolen from vehicles in Nashville, with 15 incidents occurring just last week. Of the 1,142 guns stolen in Davidson County in 2024, approximately 73% were taken from vehicles. This marks a 25% decrease from the same period last year, when 1,123 guns were stolen from cars. The MNPD’s initiative to address vehicle theft and related crimes, which began on February 1, has led to 957 arrests and the recovery of 511 stolen vehicles and 201 guns. Stolen vehicles, like firearms taken from cars, are often used in further criminal activities, such as carjackings and robberies.

Fatal Shooting Outside Nashville Club Investigated

Homicide detectives in Nashville are investigating the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ashley Dominguez outside a club on Murfreesboro Pike. The incident stemmed from an argument, resulting in gunfire at a car with five occupants. Dominguez died from her injuries, while two others were treated and released. The investigation by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is ongoing.
