Webinar to explain consumer use tax requirements for Tennessee residents and businesses.

The Tennessee Department of Revenue is hosting a free webinar on December 17 at 9 am Central time to discuss consumer use tax. This session will focus on the responsibilities of Tennessee residents and businesses when it comes to use tax, which serves as a complement to sales tax. Use tax is applicable when goods are purchased from outside Tennessee and brought into the state without sales tax being collected by the seller.

The Tennessee Department of Revenue oversees the administration of state tax laws, motor vehicle title and registration laws, and the collection of related taxes and fees. It is responsible for collecting approximately 87 percent of the state’s total revenue. In the 2024 fiscal year, the department collected $22.2 billion in state taxes and fees and over $4.7 billion in taxes and fees for local governments. Tennessee Board of Regents Quarterly Meeting Details

The Tennessee Board of Regents will hold its quarterly meeting on December 10, 2024, at the TBR system office in Nashville. The meeting, open to the public and live-streamed, will discuss topics such as enrollment trends, strategic planning, and program changes at the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology.
