Felon Arrested After Nashville Carjacking and Shooting

Deybi Banegas-Ferrera, a 32-year-old convicted felon, has been charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon following a carjacking incident at Maple Crest Apartments, located at 311 Natchez Court in Nashville. The event occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. when officers responded to a call and discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim, before being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, recounted that he was seated in his Toyota Venza when Banegas-Ferrera approached and knocked on his window. After the victim informed Banegas-Ferrera that he did not have a cigarette, Banegas-Ferrera allegedly pulled him out of the vehicle and shot him, subsequently driving away in the victim’s vehicle.

Thanks to coordinated police efforts, including assistance from a police helicopter, Banegas-Ferrera was located outside a residence on Sabre Drive. He attempted to flee in the stolen vehicle but crashed in the 500 block of Keystone Drive, where he was apprehended. A handgun was found inside the vehicle. Banegas-Ferrera, who has a prior felony conviction for aggravated assault, is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
