The incident involved an Acura SUV, driven by 68-year-old Steve Van Corum of New Hope, Alabama. Initial investigations suggest that the Acura attempted a lane change and collided with a semi-truck. This impact caused the Acura to veer back into its original lane, where it was subsequently struck by a Toyota SUV. Corum sustained critical injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates that the crash may have been caused by the Acura’s failure to maintain its lane.
