East Tennessee Weekly Construction Update

Updates on construction impacts and lane closures across East Tennessee.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has released its construction report for East Tennessee, detailing ongoing projects and potential traffic disruptions for the week of December 12-18, 2024. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and be aware of lane closures and traffic changes in the following areas:

In Anderson County, SR 62 between SR 61 and Union Valley Road may have temporary lane closures at night. Blount County has various projects, including lane reductions on SR 162 Pellissippi Parkway for bridge work and shoulder closures on I-140 for I.T.S. expansion. The SR 334 bridge over the CSX Railroad is also undergoing repairs.

In Campbell County, I-75 near Mile Marker 134.6 will have guardrail repairs on December 16, with potential lane closures. Resurfacing work on I-75 between Mile Markers 156 and 161 may cause nightly lane closures. SR 63 is experiencing construction and may have temporary lane closures during the day.

Carter County has closures on US 321/SR 67 and US 321/SR 159 due to storm damage, requiring alternate routes. In Claiborne County, SR 63 is under construction with potential daytime lane closures. Cocke County has closures on I-40 East and US 25/70 due to storm damage, with detours recommended for thru traffic.

In Greene County, the SR 107 Bridge over the Nolichucky River remains closed, while SR 351 has reopened to one lane. Hamblen County has concrete rehabilitation on US 25/SR 32, and Jefferson County has ongoing construction work on SR 113 and US 25/70/SR 9.

Johnson County faces closures on US 321/SR 159 due to storm damage. In Knox County, various interstates, including I-40, I-140, and I-640, have nighttime construction activities. US 129/SR 115 Alcoa Highway has multiple projects with lane closures and shifts.

Loudon County’s I-40 East Ramp and I-75 North and South will have repairs with potential lane closures. Monroe County is setting portable barriers on I-75, and US 411/SR 33 has lane reductions for bridge repairs. Morgan County’s SR 116 is reduced to one lane for bridge replacement.

Roane County has guardrail repairs on I-40, and Sullivan County’s SR 75 and SR 93 Bridge have ongoing construction. Unicoi County faces closures on SR 36 and SR 81 due to storm damage, with I-26 seeing lane reductions and shifts.

Union County’s SR 33 is undergoing widening, causing potential lane closures. Various routes in Upper East Tennessee are being repaired following Hurricane Helene damage, with some roads remaining closed.

Tennessee Driver Services Kiosks Upgrade

Seven self-service driver services kiosks in various East Tennessee counties will temporarily close on December 9 for upgrades. The new kiosks will offer enhanced services, including license renewals, address changes, and payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
