TDOT Halts Lane Closures for Thanksgiving Travel

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will suspend lane closures on interstates and state highways during the Thanksgiving holiday period to accommodate increased traffic. This measure will last from noon on November 27 to 6:00 a.m. on December 2, 2024. TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley highlighted the importance of this decision as Thanksgiving is a heavily traveled holiday. Despite the suspension, drivers are reminded to move over for TDOT’s HELP Truck drivers, adhere to speed limits in work zones, and check travel conditions via TDOT resources. AAA predicts record travel numbers with 1.8 million Tennesseans on the road.
