Bennett Smith Appointed Executive Director of AHA Chattanooga

Bennett Smith is the new Executive Director of the American Heart Association in Chattanooga.

The American Heart Association has announced the appointment of Bennett Smith as the new Executive Director for the Chattanooga area. In this role, Smith will manage development and community health initiatives across Greater Chattanooga and North/Central Georgia. His responsibilities include leading local market priorities, focusing on community impact, advocacy, and research funding to combat cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.

Chris Hopkins, the Board Chair for Chattanooga’s American Heart Association, praised Smith’s consistent growth in market performance, attributing it to his collaboration with motivated volunteer leaders. Hopkins expressed excitement about Smith’s commitment to fostering equitable health outcomes and his expanded role.

Smith’s career began in the for-profit sector as a Senior Sales Representative at Coyote Logistics, where he managed sales and operations for teams in the U.S. and Mexico. After joining the American Heart Association in 2021, Smith took on various roles, with his most recent position as Senior Director.

Expressing gratitude for his new role, Smith emphasized his dedication to advancing the Association’s mission in Greater Chattanooga and North/Central Georgia. He aims to drive transformational change and promote health equity in the community.

Smith holds a degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship from Auburn University and is currently pursuing an MBA from The Jack Welch Management Institute.
