Woman Arrested for Threatening Nashville School

A Seattle woman faces charges for threatening violence at a Nashville school.

Yaa-Adriel Poku, a 27-year-old woman from Seattle, has been charged with making a threat of mass violence against Metro Christian Academy in Nashville. The incident occurred when multiple employees at the school received an email on October 27, 2024, threatening a mass shooting, leading to the cancellation of classes the following day.

Following the email threat, Poku attempted to shift blame to her ex-husband by contacting the Goodlettsville Police Department. Her ex-husband currently has full custody of their 4-year-old child, and the threatening emails appeared to be part of an attempt to regain custody.

Upon her arrival in Nashville, Poku was arrested at Nashville International Airport. In addition to the charges related to the threat, she faces further charges connected to the child custody situation.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has emphasized that threats against schools, special events, and businesses are taken very seriously, and those identified as responsible will face prosecution. The Specialized Investigations Division is leading this case in cooperation with the Goodlettsville and Hendersonville Police Departments.
