Two men in Nashville, previously free on bond from prior felony charges, were rearrested on Wednesday night. Acuma Juma, 23, who was previously out on a $70,000 bond for felony gun and marijuana possession, was found driving a stolen car while in possession of a modified fully automatic pistol. Upon further investigation, Juma was discovered to be carrying a bag of oxycodone pills and had over $2,200 in cash. A search of the stolen Infiniti Q50 vehicle led to the recovery of additional illegal substances, including more pills, crystal meth, cocaine, and crack cocaine. Juma is now being held on a $192,000 bond, facing multiple charges related to theft, drugs, and firearms.
Deng Akok, 24, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was previously released on a $23,000 bond from felony cocaine and gun charges. Akok now faces new charges including vehicle theft, drug offenses, and trespassing, with his bond set at $157,000.
The arrests occurred when Vehicle Crimes detectives were conducting surveillance at a Hobson Pike apartment complex on a stolen Nissan Maxima. Juma and Akok arrived at the location in the stolen Infiniti, at which point Samuel Andrew, 24, the driver of the Maxima, joined them. Detectives intervened and detained all three individuals. Andrew is charged with two counts of vehicle theft, misdemeanor drug possession, and criminal trespassing, with a bond set at $38,000.
