On Monday night, a coordinated effort by police led to the arrest of 14-year-old Curon Claybrooks, who was charged with carjacking. The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of 7th Avenue North, where a victim reported that his 2022 blue Ford F-150 Raptor was stolen at gunpoint. The vehicle was tracked using the victim’s cell phone and Ford App.
Officers from the North Precinct quickly responded, and the police helicopter team worked with detectives to locate the vehicle on Whites Creek Pike. Spike strips were successfully deployed to halt the vehicle. Two individuals fled into a nearby wooded area, but Canine Officer Austin Bass and his partner Otto were able to locate Claybrooks, who was subsequently taken into custody. The second individual, a passenger with Claybrooks, was not believed to be involved in the robbery and was released to a parent.
