In a recent legal development, Pardrae Gooch, a 38-year-old resident of South Nashville, has been charged by a federal grand jury following a violent incident at a clothing store in May 2024. Gooch faces charges of robbery affecting interstate commerce, using fire to commit a felony, and damaging a building by fire.
Court documents reveal that on May 29, 2024, Gooch entered S. Fashion Clothing Store located on Nolensville Pike. He reportedly assaulted the store’s only employee, a woman, by choking her until she lost consciousness and further physically assaulted her before locking her in the bathroom. Gooch then stole the employee’s phone and car keys, fleeing the scene in her vehicle. Before leaving, Gooch attempted to set the store ablaze by igniting a pile of clothes in the bathroom, effectively trapping the unconscious woman inside.
Emergency services, including the South Precinct officers and the Nashville Fire Department, responded promptly after witnesses called 911. The victim was found and taken to a hospital, where she was treated for a cranial fracture and other injuries. The fire was successfully extinguished, but significant damage resulted in the temporary closure of the store.
Gooch was apprehended by authorities on June 5 at his residence on Haywood Lane. He initially faced charges of especially aggravated robbery, felony vandalism, vehicle theft, and aggravated arson. At the time of his arrest, Gooch was already on bond for previous domestic violence-related incidents involving two separate women. He had also been arrested eight days prior for violating an order of protection.
If found guilty on all federal charges, Gooch faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, with the potential for up to 20 years, as well as a maximum fine of $250,000.
