On Friday, November 15, a ceremony was held at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in Nashville, where Governor Bill Lee, along with Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long and Deputy Commissioner Greg Mays, awarded badges to 16 newly graduated Tennessee Office of Homeland Security Special Agents.
During the event, Commissioner Long expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and investment in public safety from Governor Lee and the Tennessee General Assembly. He praised the graduating class as some of the finest law enforcement professionals in the nation and commended their dedication to serving and protecting the people of Tennessee.
This graduation marks a significant milestone for the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security, as they have now achieved the goal set by Governor Lee to assign a Special Agent to each of the 95 counties across the state.

Tennessee Colleges Recognize Veterans with Awards
Tennessee’s community and technical colleges honored veterans through Veterans Day activities, including awarding the Chancellor’s Commendation for Military Veterans. Initiated by Chancellor Flora W. Tydings in 2020, this commendation recognizes veterans and active-service members who demonstrate service, honor, courage, commitment, and integrity. In 2024, 40 commendations were awarded across the state’s higher education institutions, highlighting the valuable contributions of veterans to campus diversity and the colleges’ commitment to their support and services.
