Stanley Dorelas and Miguel Morales, members of the Public Works Department, have been recognized as the STARS for October 2024. The STARS Service Excellence program acknowledges employees who exemplify the city’s service excellence standards and core values. This award aims to honor those who exceed their regular duties to provide exemplary customer service both internally and externally.
On May 29, 2024, while working on NW Broad St. near the IMI Concrete industrial area, Dorelas and Morales witnessed a serious two-vehicle collision. They promptly assisted an injured driver, who was struck by a cement truck, until paramedics could take over. Demonstrating quick action, they helped the driver out of his car and ensured he remained conscious until medical help arrived.

Both Stanley and Miguel expressed their commitment to aiding those in need and representing the city positively. The STARS, an acronym for “Succeeding Through Attitudes Reflecting Service Excellence,” highlights individuals who contribute to enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
