New Traffic Signal Operational on Veterans Parkway

A new traffic signal is now operational at Veterans Pkwy. and Shores Rd.

The new traffic signal at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Shores Road/Blackman Road on the west side of the city is now fully operational as of 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Prior to becoming fully operational, the signal was placed in flash mode for a week starting at 2 p.m. on November 15, 2024. This procedure followed guidelines outlined by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), a document adopted at both federal and state levels. The MUTCD specifies that “traffic control signals need studies,” known as warrants, which are conditions that an intersection must meet to justify the installation of a signal. The City of Murfreesboro adheres to these standards for all traffic control installations.
