Nashville Teen Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident

A Nashville teen passed away in a car accident on Smith Springs Road.

A tragic single-vehicle accident occurred on Thursday evening, claiming the life of a Nashville teenager. The incident took place at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Smith Springs Road near Butler Road. The victim has been identified as Jamon Hurt, a 16-year-old.

According to preliminary investigations, Hurt was driving a 2008 Toyota Sequoia heading west on Smith Springs Road when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned, resulting in Hurt being ejected from the SUV. Emergency services transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities reported no immediate signs of impairment influencing the crash. However, they noted the driver’s side rear tire showed significant wear, with the steel belt exposed and blown out. This detail will be further investigated to determine its potential role in the accident.

It was also confirmed that Hurt was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
