The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds will be temporarily closed on Monday, November 18, as it transitions to its newly renovated office on the upper floor of 300 Deaderick Street. The lower level of the building is currently undergoing the final phase of construction, as announced by County Register Karen Johnson.
The construction of the 15,000 square-foot facility is approaching completion. The new office aims to enhance customer service by providing easier access to vital public records and incorporating advanced technology for efficiency and user-friendliness.
Karen Johnson expressed enthusiasm about the transition to the new space, emphasizing improved accessibility for customers and anticipation of welcoming them to the updated office. The office will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, November 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The entire space is expected to be fully operational by February 2025.
The Register of Deeds office, a constitutional entity created by the Tennessee General Assembly, is responsible for maintaining legal documents related to real property. Karen Johnson, the current County Register, is noted for being the first woman and African American elected to this position.
