A Nashville resident, James Claybrooks, aged 22, who was previously released on a $40,000 bond following an arrest for aggravated robbery, has been detained again. This time, he is charged in connection with a shooting that took place on October 18th. The incident occurred at the intersection of 46th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue, resulting in critical injuries to a teenage male passenger.
Specialized Investigations Division detectives identified Claybrooks as the driver of the suspect vehicle, which pursued the victims in a Ford Focus along Charlotte Avenue. During the pursuit, a passenger in Claybrooks’ vehicle fired shots at the Ford as both cars crossed the intersection. The 23-year-old female driver of the Ford was unharmed, while the rear male passenger, aged 18, was critically injured. The suspect vehicle was later tracked to Lebanon with the aid of a License Plate Reader (LPR) hit, which significantly advanced the investigation. Detectives are actively following substantial leads about the shooter.
Claybrooks has been charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide, reckless endangerment, and aggravated reckless driving. He is currently being held on an $80,000 bond. The earlier robbery charge against Claybrooks involved an incident at a CVS Pharmacy on Gallatin Avenue on August 1st, where he is alleged to have been one of three masked individuals who stole various medications.
