The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) in Tennessee has announced the recent promotion of two of its employees. Police Chief Michael Bowen shared the news that Sergeant Zachary Ferrell has been promoted to Lieutenant, and Officer Joshua Sandlin has advanced to the rank of Sergeant. Chief Bowen emphasized that these promotions reflect the leadership abilities and commitment both individuals have demonstrated in serving the department and the community of Murfreesboro.
Zachary Ferrell has been with the Murfreesboro Police Department since August 2011. Throughout his career, he has accumulated over 300 hours of specialized crash investigation training and has taken on roles such as the FACT Commander, sergeant in the Uniformed Division, and Field Training Officer (FTO). Ferrell has recently completed training at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety: School of Police Staff and Command. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University and is an alumnus of Siegel High School. Ferrell will continue his service with the Uniformed Division Traffic Unit.
Joshua Sandlin joined the MPD in June 2018. His tenure has included responsibilities as a Field Training Officer and a member of the Special Operations Unit (SOU). Sandlin is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business Farm and Ranch Management.
Both Ferrell and Sandlin were honored in a promotion ceremony held at the MPD Headquarters on November 15, recognizing their achievements and commitment to public service.
