Administrative offices will also be closed on both Thursday and Friday. Murfreesboro Transit, the city’s public transportation system, will not operate during these two days. The St. Clair Street Senior Center will also observe the holiday closure on November 28 and 29.

TDOT Suspends Lane Closures for Thanksgiving
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will pause all lane closures on interstates and state highways during the Thanksgiving holiday from November 27 to December 2, 2024, to manage expected high traffic volumes. Deputy Governor and TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley highlighted this as a strategy to minimize congestion, while TDOT’s HELP Truck drivers will remain available for assistance. Despite the suspension, some construction zones may still have workers, and drivers are urged to maintain caution, especially in these areas. Travelers can access real-time traffic updates through the SmartWay website or by dialing 511.
