The November edition of “In the City,” a news segment dedicated to Murfreesboro’s latest developments, is now airing on CityTV and various online platforms. This month’s feature includes the dedication of a new roadway extension named Tommy Bragg Drive, aimed at reducing traffic congestion. This $8.65 million project includes a bridge over the Stones River, connecting Cason Lane and River Rock Blvd. with Beasie Rd.
The segment also covers the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 20,000 square foot facility for Journey Home, a service for the homeless, located on Old Salem Rd. Additionally, an emphasis on enhancing school safety is addressed through training sessions involving teachers and public safety personnel for emergency response scenarios.
Economic tourism is highlighted with insights from Barbara Wolke of the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau, discussing the economic benefits of tourism in the area. The installation of a Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Rescue Station No. 4 is another focal point, offering parents a safe and anonymous option to surrender their infants.
Murfreesboro’s annual Fire Expo, school crisis training, and the Perform Murfreesboro Tech Junior program are among other features. The city is also conducting a Special Census campaign to verify and certify the city’s population, which has grown by an estimated 20,000 since the 2020 Census.
Residents can catch “In the City” on CityTV at 8:00 a.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. throughout November. For more updates, visit the City of Murfreesboro’s website or their YouTube channel.
