Murder Warrant Issued for Nashville Bus Stop Stabbing

A warrant has been issued for Roy Lomax Gardner after a fatal stabbing in Nashville.

Homicide detectives in Nashville have issued an arrest warrant for Roy Lomax Gardner, 42, in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman near a bus stop on Harding Place at Antioch Pike in South Nashville. The incident occurred early this morning as Gardner and the victim, tentatively identified as a 38-year-old local resident, were waiting at a bus shelter. Surveillance footage shows that as the bus approached around 5:15 a.m., Gardner suddenly attacked the woman without provocation, stabbing her multiple times.

The victim’s cries for help alerted bystanders from a nearby convenience store, who then intervened, subduing Gardner until law enforcement arrived. The injured victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Gardner, who sustained injuries during the altercation with civilians, is currently under police guard at Vanderbilt and will be formally charged with criminal homicide upon his release from the hospital.

Gardner carries a Florida identification card issued in April and has a criminal history in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. The exact timing of his arrival in Nashville remains unclear. Despite the severity of the attack, detectives have not yet been able to ascertain Gardner’s motive due to limited communication.
