Memphis Man Convicted for Meth and Firearm Offenses

Memphis resident Andre Blue convicted for meth possession and firearm-related crimes.

A Memphis resident, Andre Blue, has been convicted by a federal jury for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, alongside multiple firearm-related offenses. The verdict was announced by Reagan Fondren, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

The case unfolded when detectives from the Multi-Agency Gang Unit executed a search warrant on an apartment in Memphis on July 13, 2022. During the search, they found a loaded Glock Inc. .45 caliber pistol, a Sig Sauer Inc. 9mm caliber pistol, and a loaded Smith and Wesson .45 caliber pistol in the primary bedroom. Additionally, 15 grams of pure methamphetamine were discovered in the primary bathroom toilet bowl. In a child’s bedroom closet, an American Tactical Imports Inc. multi-caliber pistol was found along with a magazine containing at least 50 live rounds.

Further investigations led to another search on February 23, 2023, by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at a different residence occupied by Blue. Here, a Sig Sauer pistol and various drug-sale paraphernalia were found under the primary bathroom sink.

Due to his prior felony convictions, Blue is prohibited by federal law from possessing firearms and ammunition. Following a three-day trial that concluded on November 20, 2024, Blue was found guilty of possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Blue faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in federal prison for possession of more than five grams of actual methamphetamine, and an additional consecutive five-year mandatory minimum sentence for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Sentencing is scheduled for February 26, 2025, before United States District Judge Jon P. McCalla.

This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through community and law enforcement collaboration. The investigation was conducted by the PSN Gun Task Force, the Multi-Agency Gang Unit, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

Acting United States Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude to Assistant United States Attorneys Eileen Kuo and Regina Brittenum, who prosecuted the case, and the law enforcement partners involved in the investigation.
