Mayor Shane McFarland has recognized Public Works Technicians Miguel Morales and Stanley Dorelas as STARS for their exemplary actions on November 7, 2024. The two employees were commended for their prompt response in assisting an injured driver following a two-vehicle crash. Morales and Dorelas were working near the IMI Concrete industrial area on NW Broad St. on May 29, 2024, when they witnessed the accident involving a cement truck. They immediately went to aid the driver, helping him out of his vehicle and providing comfort until the paramedics arrived. Both Morales and Dorelas expressed their commitment to assisting those in need and representing the City positively.
Miguel Morales began his employment with the City as a part-time Public Works Technician I on September 5, 2023, and was promoted to full-time on November 19, 2023. Similarly, Stanley Dorelas joined as a part-time Public Works Technician I on April 1, 2024, and became full-time on May 20, 2024.
The STARS Service Excellence program aims to recognize city employees who demonstrate outstanding service and embody the city’s core values. The nominations are reviewed monthly by a committee of City employees who select the awardees. The recognition reflects the City’s commitment to high service standards and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
