Jarrod Sanford Sentenced to 82 Years for Child Sex Crimes

Jarrod Sanford sentenced to 82 years for child sex offenses in Memphis, TN.

In Memphis, Tennessee, Jarrod Sanford, aged 43, has been sentenced to 82 years in prison following his conviction by a federal jury for production and possession of child pornography, and committing a felony sex offense against a minor while registered as a sex offender. Reagan Fondren, the Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, announced the sentence. This marks Sanford’s third conviction for sex crimes involving minors.

Previously, Sanford had been convicted of sexual battery in Crockett County, Tennessee, for involvement in the rape of a fifteen-year-old, and of transporting an individual for prostitution related to the sex trafficking of another fifteen-year-old, in federal court in Illinois. These convictions required him to register as a sex offender in Tennessee and comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). Despite these measures, he committed new crimes.

During his trial in July, evidence revealed that on November 19, 2023, Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of Sanford raping a 13-year-old. DNA evidence linked him to the crime. While investigating, authorities recovered a phone from his residence containing images of Sanford committing sexual acts with the child, taken between July and November 2023.

A federal grand jury indicted Sanford in February 2024 for child pornography and registration offenses. By July 25, after a four-day trial, Sanford was convicted on all charges. On October 31, United States District Judge Thomas L. Parker sentenced him to 70 years for the child pornography offenses, a mandatory consecutive ten years for the SORNA violation, and two additional years for violating his supervised release, totaling 82 years in prison. The federal system does not allow parole.

Acting U.S. Attorney Fondren stated, “Jarrod Sanford is a sexual predator whose monstrous crimes caused immeasurable harm to the girls upon whom he preyed. This prosecution, achieved through the collaborative effort of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement partners, is crucial in delivering justice to the survivor of his acts and holding Sanford accountable.”

Joe Carrico, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Tennessee, Memphis Resident Agency, expressed that the sentence serves to protect other children from harm and warns against similar behavior. The FBI remains committed to targeting and prosecuting those who victimize children.

The case was investigated by the FBI, the United States Probation Office for the Western District of Tennessee, and the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office. Acting United States Attorney Reagan Fondren extended gratitude to Assistant United States Attorneys Lynn Crum and Lauren Delery, as well as the law enforcement partners involved in the investigation.
