Downtown Knoxville is set to transform into a winter wonderland for the holiday season, offering a variety of festive activities and events. The celebrations begin on November 29, 2024, and continue through January 5, 2025, providing ample opportunities for visitors to enjoy holiday cheer.
Michele Hummel, executive director of the Downtown Knoxville Alliance, announced, “Santa’s helpers at downtown businesses have been working hard to make the season merry and bright. Wrap up 2024 and celebrate through the new year with loved ones. There’s festive fun for all!”
Some of the highlights include:
– **The Elf on the Shelf® Adventure:** This popular scavenger hunt invites participants to search for elves hidden in various downtown shops and restaurants. North Pole Passes are available at Mast General Store and the Knoxville Visitors Center. The first 5,000 participants receive a special holiday stamp, and those who find over 20 elves can register for prizes. Share your adventures with #ElvesInKnox.
– **Peppermint Trail:** Follow the peppermint decals on downtown sidewalks to find holiday specials. Discover peppermint treats, gingerbread, cinnamon, and other seasonal flavors. Many boutiques and gift shops offer peppermint-themed products.
– **Holidays on Ice:** Enjoy outdoor skating at the City of Knoxville’s ice rink in Market Square, open daily from November 29 to January 5.
– **Letters to Santa:** Children can send letters to Santa via a special holiday mailbox in Market Square, designed by local artist Paris Woodhull, with delivery by Christmas Eve.
– **Shopping and Markets:** Explore Downtown Knoxville Alliance’s gift guides and support local businesses. Attend holiday markets for handmade and homegrown gifts.
– **Photo Opportunities:** Capture memories at Market Square’s photo ops, including Peppermint Grove and the Knoxville Chamber and Knoxville Entrepreneur Center window. Seasonal décor and murals provide great backdrops for photos. Share on social media with #lovedowntownknox.
