The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Regulatory Boards has announced the appointment of Gin Binkley as the new executive director of the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy. Binkley, who holds a degree from Auburn University and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2012, brings her extensive experience from both public accounting and the private sector to this position.
Binkley’s career began in Audit and Assurance services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she managed a diverse range of clients, including public multinational corporations and privately held businesses. Her role involved leading audit teams through the planning and execution phases and providing oversight and support. More recently, she worked as a financial controller for small businesses in the creative industry in middle Tennessee, where she offered financial leadership and operational guidance.
Reid Witcher, TDCI Assistant Commissioner for Regulatory Boards, expressed confidence in Binkley’s capabilities, citing her leadership skills and practical accounting experience as key assets for the Board of Accountancy and the Division of Regulatory Boards. The Board, established in 1913 to regulate the accounting profession in Tennessee, is dedicated to public protection, communication with licensees, and adapting to contemporary challenges.
The Board of Accountancy is part of TDCI’s Division of Regulatory Boards, which supervises 24 regulatory programs and oversees the licensing and regulation of over 317,000 professionals and businesses in Tennessee.
Gin Binkley, originally from Madison, Mississippi, expressed her enthusiasm for joining TDCI, stating her commitment to supporting Tennesseans, inspiring colleagues, and positively impacting accountants throughout the state. Her tenure at TDCI began on November 12, 2024.
