A tragic accident occurred on Monday night on Briley Parkway near Currey Road in Nashville, resulting in the death of a driver. The incident involved an Infiniti QX5 that collided with a downed tree on a portion of the parkway that was closed for maintenance.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Infiniti was being pursued by a wrecker attempting to repossess the vehicle. The driver fled from law enforcement after two attempted traffic stops on Murfreesboro Pike. Shortly after, the vehicle struck a tree, causing a passenger to exit the vehicle before it continued driving.
Concurrently, officers were attending to a separate incident on Briley Parkway where two vehicles had collided with one another and a fallen tree. The southbound lanes had been blocked off while efforts were underway to clear the debris. The Infiniti bypassed these officers and entered the closed section of the parkway, subsequently hitting the tree.
The driver, who has been tentatively identified as a 51-year-old woman from Nashville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to confirm her identity.
