A Nashville driver, Ricky Washington Jr., aged 23, is in critical condition following an incident on Briley Parkway near Opryland on Friday night. Washington fled an initial crash involving his vehicle by crossing the northbound and southbound lanes and entering the Opryland Hotel property. Hermitage Precinct Officer encountered Washington in the parking lot of the Inn at Opryland on Music Valley Drive. Despite efforts to stop him using a Taser, Washington, wearing a heavy coat, escaped and ran onto the Briley Parkway south exit ramp. There, he was struck by a Dodge Challenger, resulting in life-threatening injuries. He was immediately taken to Skyline Medical Center. At the time, Washington was on three-years supervised probation due to previous felony reckless endangerment and marijuana convictions from September 2023.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger, 30-year-old Jerry Holt II, also from Nashville, does not face charges for hitting Washington. However, Holt was found with ¾ pound of marijuana and a scale in a backpack within his car, as well as a pistol in his waistband, resulting in marijuana and gun charges.
