Chattanooga, Tennessee, recently hosted the 2024 Sports ETA 4S Summit, attracting nearly 250 sports tourism professionals from November 12-14, 2024. The event took place at The Westin Chattanooga and various locations across the city, marking an 80% increase in attendance compared to the previous year. The summit, organized by Chattanooga Sports, a division of Chattanooga Tourism Co., showcased the city as a leading destination for sports tourism and event innovation.
Tim Morgan, Chief Sports Officer of Chattanooga Tourism Co., emphasized the importance of community collaboration in the event’s success, which allowed attendees to appreciate the city’s attributes and fostered connections within the sports tourism industry.
The 4S Summit, focusing on sales, services, strategy, and support, offered over a dozen educational sessions and networking opportunities. Keynote speakers included Mark Ezell, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development, Jerry Caldwell, President & GM of Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway, John Prater, President of Praters Inc., and Chris McKee, President & COO of McKee Foods. McKee shared insights into sponsorships for events such as the Little Debbie IRONMAN Chattanooga and the Sunbelt Bakery IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga.
Participants explored venues like the Chattanooga Convention Center, Camp Jordan Arena, and Summit Softball Fields. The event was supported by local organizations, including The Westin Chattanooga, The Chattanoogan Hotel, Read House Hotel, The Edwin Hotel, Whiskey Thief, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department, Finley Stadium, IRONMAN Chattanooga, and the Chattanooga Lookouts.
