Woman Arrested for Child’s Fentanyl Overdose

Woman charged for her niece's fatal fentanyl overdose in Nashville.

In a coordinated effort between the Youth Services Division detectives and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, Tawona Pickens-Johnson, aged 46, was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida. She faces an indictment related to the fatal fentanyl overdose of her one-year-old niece, Ivery Holmes, which occurred in March 2023.

Holmes was discovered unconscious at their Herman Street residence on March 7 and was subsequently removed from life support at the hospital on March 19. An investigation conducted by Youth Services detectives concluded that Holmes was exposed to fentanyl while under the care of Pickens-Johnson.

As a result, Pickens-Johnson has been indicted on one count of criminally negligent homicide and two counts of aggravated child neglect. Plans are in place for her return to Nashville to face these charges.

Woman Arrested for Child Exploitation in Nashville

Letha Milton-Walker, a 44-year-old woman from Nashville, has been arrested by Special Victims Division detectives on charges of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest followed an investigation that linked Kik messaging app accounts containing sexually explicit material involving children to Milton-Walker’s email address and residence. She is currently being held on an $80,000 bond.
