Nashville-based Australian artist [Wesley Dean](https://www.wesleydeanmusic.com/) has unveiled the official music video for “Crazy Hearts” from his acclaimed album, “Music From Crazy Hearts.” The visually captivating video was created in collaboration with the [Nashville Ballet](https://www.nashvilleballet.com/) and was choreographed by the ballet’s Artistic Director and CEO, Nick Mullikin. Featured in the video are company dancers James Lankford and Lily Saito, with direction by Jacobie Gray. The premiere took place at the Nashville Ballet’s opening production of Paul Vasterling’s “Dracula” at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on October 3, 2024.
The idea for this collaborative project originated when Dean’s neighbor, a dancer, suggested working with the Nashville Ballet. Dean, who has a background in various dance forms, felt a connection and approached Mullikin to choreograph the piece.
“I love creating in every way—music, dance, words,” Dean expressed. “Seeing my work brought to life through Nick Mullikin’s genius choreography felt like a dream. It wasn’t your typical ballet.”
Nick Mullikin emphasized the ballet’s dedication to reaching non-traditional audiences, stating, “This piece shows Nashville Ballet’s commitment to trying to reach audiences outside of what would be considered traditional for us.”
Dean’s album, recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, chronicles his journey across the U.S. in an RV, which will also be featured in an upcoming documentary, “Crazy Hearts: The Documentary.”
