Tennessee Highway Patrol Welcomes New Dispatch Graduates

Eight new dispatchers join the Tennessee Highway Patrol's emergency response team.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) recently celebrated the graduation of eight new dispatchers for the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP). The ceremony took place at the TDOSHS Training Center and was attended by TDOSHS Commissioner Jeff Long, THP Colonel Matt Perry, and Dispatch Director Caiti Medling.

Commissioner Long emphasized the critical role dispatchers play as the first point of contact for Tennesseans in emergencies, highlighting their essential skills and professionalism. The new dispatchers underwent seven weeks of comprehensive training to enhance their communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities.

Colonel Perry acknowledged the importance of dispatchers as first responders, despite not being physically present at emergency scenes. He noted their vital contribution to saving lives and ensuring the safety of troopers and the public, describing them as a crucial link in emergency responses.

The TDOSHS remains committed to serving, securing, and protecting the people of Tennessee. For photos from the graduation ceremony, visit this link.
