Tennessee Community Assistance for Recovery Employment (CAREs) funding is now accessible to provide temporary job opportunities in East Tennessee areas affected by Hurricane Helene. This initiative, a collaboration between the First Tennessee Development District and the East Tennessee Human Resource Agency (ETHRA), is financed by the National Dislocated Worker Grant. It aims to offer eligible Tennesseans part-time jobs to aid in storm recovery efforts, with a competitive wage of $25 per hour. The grant is intended to supply local communities and businesses with a workforce to help in debris clearance and infrastructure restoration in the most affected regions.
Part-time employment is available to eligible residents who experienced job interruptions due to the disaster in several counties. In Northeast Tennessee, these counties include Carter, Greene, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington. In East Tennessee, opportunities are open in Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, and Sevier counties.
