Temporary Closure of Nashville Register of Deeds Office

Nashville's Register of Deeds Office will close for two days due to construction.

The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds Office will close temporarily from Monday, October 28, to Tuesday, October 29, 2024. This closure is due to ongoing construction work required for the installation of a heating system and electrical work in the new office facility. The new office is expected to be operational by mid-November. The office will resume its regular hours on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This temporary closure is part of the efforts to ensure uninterrupted services for the two adjoining floors of the building. Register of Deeds Karen Johnson emphasized the importance of customer safety during this construction phase.

The Register of Deeds is a constitutional office established by the Tennessee General Assembly, responsible for the custody of legal documents related to real property. Karen Johnson, the current Register of Deeds, is notable for being the first woman and African American elected to the position.
