Roadway Activities in East and Middle Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has released an update on roadway activities scheduled for October 3-9, 2024, in Region 2, covering parts of East and Middle Tennessee. The report includes various construction and maintenance projects affecting traffic flow and providing safety improvements across several counties.

In Cumberland County, significant projects include the bridge construction and paving on SR-28 (US-127) from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road and utility work on SR-1 (US-70 W) and SR-101 (Peavine Rd.). These activities will involve temporary lane closures and detours, with flaggers and signage guiding motorists through the work zones. The SR-1 bridge over the Obed River is closed for replacement, with a detour in place.

Dekalb County is undergoing grading, drainage, and paving work on SR-26, with temporary lane closures expected. In Jackson County, SR-135 is closed for rockfall mitigation, while resurfacing continues on SR-53 and SR-56. Bridge repair on SR-85 over Indian Creek reduces the road to a single lane controlled by temporary signals.

In District 28, Bledsoe County features resurfacing projects on SR-285 and SR-301, with single-lane closures managed by flaggers. Coffee County has ongoing construction on I-24, including an overpass replacement and bridge repair on SR-55 over the Little Duck River.

In Hamilton County, several projects are underway, including the I-75 and I-24 interchange reconstruction, SR-319 utility work, and SR-2 repairs. These projects involve various lane closures, with traffic management operations in place to facilitate work.

Temporary Closures of West Tennessee Driver Centers

The Department of Safety and Homeland Security in West Tennessee will temporarily close several Driver Services Centers and partner locations for one day to install new credentialing equipment and self-service kiosks.
