Relief efforts are underway for those affected by Hurricane Helene. A coordinated initiative by Angel Flight, a non-profit organization, is facilitating the collection and transportation of supplies to impacted areas. Donations can be made at the airport terminal located at 1930 Memorial Blvd in Murfreesboro, which is being used as a drop-off point. The terminal is open daily from 7am to 7pm, and items will be stored in a hangar for collection by Angel Flight. The deadline for donations is Monday, October 21, 2024.
The airport staff are available to accept items in the terminal lobby and can provide assistance for coordinating larger deliveries. Donors are requested to ensure that all items are either new or in like-new condition. A variety of essential supplies are needed, including diapers, baby formula, blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, air mattresses, jackets, socks, warm clothing for all sizes and genders, heavy-duty work gloves, and large trash bags.
Additional items such as small Coleman stoves, steno fuel, charcoal, lighter fluid, matches, lighters, raincoats, batteries, flashlights, bungee cords, zip ties, duct tape, pots, pans, cooking utensils, zip lock bags, lanterns, and propane heaters are also requested. First aid kits, ropes, tarps, hammers, saws, brooms, shovels, and OTC medicines for adults and children are needed to aid in the clean-up and recovery efforts.
