New Driver Services Locations for Tennessee Storm Victims

Tennessee offers free ID replacements for flood victims in new locations.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) is providing free replacement identification licenses and driver licenses to residents affected by the recent flooding in East Tennessee. These services are available at the Elizabethton Driver Services Center, the Unicoi Police Department, and at three Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARCs) organized by the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA).

The MARCs, which also offer resources from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other partners, are located at 466 Learning Road in Newport, 1749 HWY 19E in Elizabethton, and 306 Forest Drive in Jonesborough. They operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.

Due to the storm, the Elizabethton Driver Services Center is temporarily closed, but services are available via the TDOSHS Driver Services mobile unit stationed there. This mobile unit offers a range of services including road skills and vision tests, and issuance or renewal of various types of driver licenses. It is open with the same hours as the MARCs, and it accepts payment only through credit or debit cards.

Additionally, a temporary TDOSHS location at the Unicoi Police Department, at 3600 Unicoi Drive, is providing free duplicate licenses to flood victims, although it is not open to the general public. This location operates Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT and also only accepts card payments.

Due to storm damage, Driver Services are currently not available at the Greene County and Cocke County Clerk’s offices. Many Driver Service transactions can also be completed online. For more information, visit the TDOSHS’s online services page.
