The Metropolitan Nashville Police have identified the victims of a double homicide that occurred on Vultee Boulevard as Luis Gonzalez-Barajas, 37, and Franklin Bautista-Ayala, 29. The incident took place outside the home at 1208 Vultee Boulevard, where the suspected gunman, known only by his first name Jose, was residing.
The shooting occurred late at night when the victims arrived in a white Acura sedan. An argument reportedly ensued between Jose, who was sitting on the porch, and the two victims. Jose allegedly opened fire using two pistols, resulting in the deaths of both men on the scene. Both victims were carrying identification, and efforts are being made to locate their next of kin.
Hermitage Precinct officers responded promptly to the shooting and noticed an individual trying to leave in a pickup truck. This individual, suspected to be Jose, abandoned the vehicle and fled towards the house. Officers surrounded the residence and issued commands in both English and Spanish. After a four-hour standoff, a man and a woman exited the home, confirming that Jose lived with them. It is believed that Jose fled the area on foot. The pistols used in the shooting were recovered outside the property.
The investigation is ongoing and is being supported by the Specialized Investigations Division. The police are working to confirm Jose’s full identity and whereabouts.
