Nashville Man Arrested Twice in September

Cedric Watkins was arrested twice in September for various charges involving stolen vehicles and evading arrest.

A Nashville man, Cedric Watkins, 22, was arrested for a second time in September after fleeing from detectives with a stolen gun and marijuana in his possession. Watkins was initially taken into custody on September 14 after being found driving a stolen car in Antioch. He was found again in North Nashville with a stolen firearm and drugs in his backpack.

Watkins was inside a Ford Explorer on Monday night when he fled from a traffic stop conducted by The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings (TITANS) Unit detectives. The vehicle stopped in an alleyway between 32nd and 33rd Avenue North, where Watkins and two other occupants fled on foot. Watkins discarded a backpack, which was later recovered by detectives and found to contain marijuana and a stolen handgun. The other occupants were not located.

Earlier in September, Watkins was arrested while driving a stolen Dodge Ram on Nolensville Pike. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Murfreesboro on September 4. During a traffic stop by Vehicle Crimes detectives, Watkins fled, causing the truck to lose control and strike a natural gas line, leading to a gas leak. He was charged with theft, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and vandalism, among other charges.

Watkins, who was out on a $91,000 bond from his previous arrest, is now held on a $75,000 bond facing charges of felony weapon possession, drug possession, theft of a firearm, and evading arrest.
