Nashville Detectives Seek Public Help in Identifying Robbery Suspect

Police seek public assistance to identify a suspect in a Nashville robbery.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division are currently working to identify a suspect involved in a robbery that took place at Swett’s Market, located at 702 28th Avenue North, Nashville. The incident occurred at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday when the suspect entered the market and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. The clerk complied and opened the cash register, after which the suspect took the money and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt adorned with graphics on the front and sleeves, a light blue t-shirt, black jeans, a blue knit cap, and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is urged to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 615-742-7463. Callers can choose to remain anonymous. Surveillance photos of the suspect have been released to assist in the identification process.

Homicide detectives in Nashville are investigating the death of 59-year-old James Sutton, who was initially thought to have been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of South 5th and Russell Streets. However, surveillance footage revealed that Sutton was attacked by another person, causing him to fall into the street, where he sustained severe injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information from the public.
