Murfreesboro’s ‘Behind The Badge’ Highlights Safety Initiatives

Murfreesboro's 'Behind The Badge' showcases police training and new safety technologies.

The latest episode of ‘Behind The Badge,’ a program presented by the Murfreesboro Police Department, focuses on recent safety initiatives and technological advancements. Public Safety Information Director Larry Flowers hosts the show, which is available on YouTube and airs on Murfreesboro City TV.

In August, Murfreesboro Police Department School Resource Officers collaborated with other first responders in Rutherford County for an active shooter training session. This training aims to prepare officers for potential incidents, though the hope is that such skills will never be needed.

The episode also introduces new gunshot detection technology being installed throughout the City of Murfreesboro. This technology forms part of the Real Time Crime Center’s efforts to enhance public safety.

Additionally, viewers will learn about CID Detective Julia Cox, who, along with her daughter, became the first mother-daughter duo to serve in the Murfreesboro Police Department two years ago. Cox recently took a final patrol ride before her retirement.

The program also highlights efforts to recruit former military members as new officers, showcasing the department’s commitment to leveraging diverse skills and experiences.

Produced by Michael Nevills at the Murfreesboro City Hall studios, ‘Behind The Badge’ is broadcast on various platforms including CityTV, Comcast Xfinity Channel 3 and 1094, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, mobile devices, Facebook, and YouTube.
