Murfreesboro, Tenn. (October 16, 2024) – David Ridiner, a Parks Officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD), has been recognized as the ‘Officer of the Year’ by the Exchange Club. The accolade was presented by Exchange Club Treasurer Melissa Wright at their luncheon held at Through the Grapevine on Broadmor St. on October 16.
Officer Ridiner expressed his gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, “I’m thankful for the award and recognition. I’m grateful for even being nominated. I wouldn’t have gotten it if it wasn’t for the team of officers I work with and the support of my wife.”
The Exchange Club acknowledges October as Crime Prevention Month, a time when police, firefighters, and EMS personnel are honored for their service. Exchange Club President Rob Jacobs commented, “It’s our way of showing appreciation for the commitment they do in the community.”
Deputy Chief Steve Jarrell, Lieutenant Harry Haigh, and Ridiner’s wife Taylor were present at the event. Deputy Chief Jarrell praised Ridiner’s dedication, remarking, “We are proud of Officer Ridiner’s hard work and dedication in serving the citizens of the City of Murfreesboro. He is well-deserving of this award.”
Officer Ridiner was nominated by Lieutenant Harry Haigh for his contributions to the MPD Parks Units, Homeless Outreach Support Team (HOST), Sky Cop cameras, and special events. Haigh described Ridiner as “the total package,” highlighting his willingness to take on responsibilities even on his days off.
Ridiner commenced his career with the MPD in April 2017 and currently serves in the Parks Unit. He also has a decade of experience in the U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Iraq.
