On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, the Metro Council’s Public Health and Safety Committee will convene a special meeting at 4 p.m. in the David Scobey Council Chamber. The session will focus on domestic violence and its intersection with the criminal justice system. This event is the final installment of a three-part series initiated earlier in October, aligning with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The meeting will be attended by committee members, including Chair Erin Evans and Vice Mayor Angie Henderson, along with representatives from various departments such as the Metro Nashville Police Department Domestic Violence Division, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, General Sessions Court, Chancery Court, and Metro Finance Department.
At 3:30 p.m., Chair Evans and Vice Mayor Henderson will be available on the 2nd floor mezzanine, outside the Council Chamber. The meeting will proceed from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., during which credentialed media can bring cameras into the Council Chamber. The meeting agenda can be viewed here.
Following the meeting, Chair Evans, Vice Mayor Henderson, and other participants will remain available in the Council Chamber for further discussions.
This meeting is part of a broader effort to enhance accountability for domestic violence offenders and improve the support system for victims within the community.
