The Andrew Jackson Foundation, based in Nashville, Tennessee, has appointed Jason R. Zajac as its new president and CEO. Zajac, known for his expertise in national fundraising and engagement with boards and volunteers, will lead the nonprofit organization responsible for The Hermitage, the estate of the seventh U.S. president. His role will include managing the museum, educational programs, and preservation efforts associated with the site.
Zajac began his tenure on October 2, 2024, becoming the seventh professional director of the presidential site. Pam Koban, Regent of the Andrew Jackson Foundation, expressed confidence in Zajac’s leadership, highlighting his understanding of the Jacksonian era and his recognition of The Hermitage as both a local and national treasure.
Before joining the Foundation, Zajac co-founded Celsinus Partners in Maumee, Ohio, where he worked with philanthropic families and nonprofit organizations. His previous accomplishments include leading a nationwide capital campaign for the National Cold War Center in Arkansas and fundraising efforts for the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania. Zajac also has experience in fundraising for educational and healthcare institutions.
Zajac holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Fordham University and succeeds Howard J. Kittell, who retired after a 16-year tenure. The executive search committee included Pam Koban and other notable figures, and the search was conducted by Bryan & Jordan Consulting.
As president and CEO, Zajac will focus on the preservation of The Hermitage, enhancing financial stability, and advancing educational initiatives and technology at the site. The Hermitage, a National Historic Landmark, aims to continue expanding its educational programs and enhancing visitor experiences.
