Homicide detectives in Nashville are actively pursuing leads in the investigation of the death of James Sutton, 59. The incident occurred Monday evening at the intersection of South 5th and Russell Streets in East Nashville. Initially, it was believed that Sutton might have been struck by a vehicle, leading to his fatal injuries. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later passed away.
Further investigation, supported by surveillance footage from the vicinity, indicated that Sutton was physically attacked by another individual, causing him to fall into the street. It remains uncertain whether he was subsequently hit by a passing car. Sutton sustained a severe head injury and multiple rib fractures during the incident.
