The College System of Tennessee has announced the appointment of Dr. Tachaka Hollins and Zachary Adams to significant roles within two prestigious educational boards. This recognition reflects the system’s dedication to enhancing educational standards and workforce alignment across the region.
Dr. Tachaka Hollins, serving as an assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs, has been chosen to join the University of Tennessee at Knoxville College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS) Inaugural Board of Visitors. The board’s mission is to guide the future of CECS by offering strategic advice, promoting industry-academic partnerships, and ensuring the curriculum remains relevant to emerging trends. Comprising a diverse group of industry leaders, the board aims to empower students with access to emerging technologies and essential skills, thereby contributing to Tennessee’s and beyond’s economic growth. Dr. Hollins is one of 12 distinguished members selected for this inaugural board.
Zachary Adams, also an assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs and workforce alignment, has been appointed to the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB)’s Commission on High Demand Career Pathways and Credentials of Value. The commission includes representatives from various sectors across 16 states, intending to create a regional framework for identifying high-demand career pathways and corresponding credentials. This initiative strives to improve the education-to-workforce system by establishing career pathways aligned with industry needs, enhancing the region’s economic vitality.
The SREB Commission will be chaired by Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, with a key member of his team providing staff support. The commission will operate from October 2024 through December 2025, focusing on developing policies and practices informed by labor market data and collaboration across educational and workforce agencies.
These appointments highlight the exceptional leadership and expertise of Dr. Hollins and Adams, underscoring their commitment to advancing educational opportunities and job readiness.
