A fatal two-car collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Barnes Road in South Nashville, claiming the life of one driver. According to preliminary investigations, a Nissan Altima, driven by Timothy Vetitoe, 47, was heading south on Old Hickory Boulevard at high speed. The vehicle reportedly ran a stop sign at Barnes Road and was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound Dodge Dart, which had stopped at the sign before entering the intersection.
The impact caused the Nissan to veer into a field, where it rolled over and came to rest on its driver’s side. Timothy Vetitoe, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The 26-year-old driver of the Dodge Dart sustained no serious injuries.
