A man, identified as 25-year-old Raybon Porter, was fatally shot in a parking lot located at 2510 Murfreesboro Pike early Sunday morning at around 2:40 a.m. According to reports, at least two vehicles entered the parking lot, which is part of a strip mall, and the occupants began firing guns. It remains unclear if the gunfire was indiscriminate or aimed at one of the vehicles. Porter was standing by a parked car, talking to a friend, when he was struck in the back by a bullet. It appears that he was not the intended target. He was quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.
Porter and his friends had been spending time at the Illuzion Bar and Lounge, located within the mall complex, prior to the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Porter’s murder to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 in homicide cases.
