Fatal Shooting at Antioch Apartment Linked to Marijuana Deal

A fatal shooting in Antioch was connected to a marijuana transaction dispute.

A shooting incident on Thursday night at the Avana Overlook apartment complex located at 727 Bell Road in Antioch resulted in the death of a 25-year-old resident. The victim succumbed to injuries after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Authorities are currently working with a chaplain to notify the victim’s next of kin.

Preliminary investigations by detectives suggest that the victim was engaged in a marijuana sale to three individuals who visited the apartment. A disagreement over the transaction’s price reportedly led to gunfire.

The Homicide Unit detectives are actively following leads to identify the three suspects involved in the incident. Nashville Police Recover Stolen Goods and Firearms

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department arrested two individuals, Hector Ibanes-Huerta and Stephanie Kay Powers, after recovering over 250 stolen items and four firearms during a search on Pinehurst Drive. The operation, involving multiple police units, led to the confiscation of $60,000 worth of stolen construction equipment and tools, as well as firearms reported stolen from Nashville. Both suspects face multiple charges related to theft and unlawful possession of weapons, with bonds set at $82,000 for Ibanes-Huerta and $75,000 for Powers.
